As Comprehensive Illusions - a social media-like entity that hijacks creativity - overtakes the masses, Chevauchet, the old radical, weakens and disappears, leaving our narrator to take up Chevauchet's dictum that "daydreaming is directly subversive" and forge ahead on his own.
